What to expect
A substance-free home with a live-in house manager, Sunday house meetings, and clear expectations for daily life.
House structure
Residents are expected to take personal responsibility and treat the home and one another with respect:
Residents can work or attend school, and many choose to do so. Visitors are welcome between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Cable TV, Wi-Fi, and streaming services are available, along with shared living, dining, and kitchen spaces.
Practical support
The house manager lives at Citronia and is regularly at the home. When you move in, staff help you settle in, explain the house rules, and make sure you have the essentials you need to feel at home.
Transportation to important appointments and commitments can be arranged on request, including doctor visits, appointments with an independent intensive outpatient (IOP) provider, and job interviews. Discuss timing and needs with staff in advance.
Citronia welcomes residents who use prescribed medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Read about medication storage and staff-assisted access.
Staff can help residents connect with trusted independent outpatient or intensive outpatient (IOP) providers. This may include planning a move from detoxification, residential treatment, outpatient care, or another recovery setting.
With the resident’s permission, staff work closely with their independent IOP providers, doctors, and therapists to help coordinate outside care.
Citronia provides sober living housing; independent providers handle clinical care and make their own treatment recommendations and admission decisions.
Guidance for families and referralsSober living costs and private insurance
For some residents with private insurance, housing costs may be covered through an arrangement involving an independent outpatient or intensive outpatient (IOP) program they attend. Assistance is considered case by case and is not guaranteed. The provider may bill insurance for eligible treatment services; Citronia does not bill insurance for housing. The provider and insurer must verify eligibility and benefits, and staff must confirm any housing assistance and remaining costs.
Cash-pay rates are also available on request.
Food is not provided. Residents can use the shared kitchen.
Having Medi-Cal does not prevent residency. It cannot be used for Citronia’s insurance-assistance option, but you can ask about cash-pay residency. Read more and find outside treatment resources for Medi-Cal.
